Last year, I photographed two weddings at this beautiful church building in Gainesville, VA. Father Peffley recognized me from many Filipino parties and services at my old parish in Woodbridge, so I offered to take pictures of their new building. He actually took my up on my offer, and he allowed me take amazingly detailed photographs of the empty sanctuary, fixtures, and stained glass windows. Some of these have been made into postcards that are available in their gift shop. The stained class windows were created at the Dixon Studio in Staunton, VA. When they are installed, I hope to complete the photographs of all of the windows soon! For those looking to get married, they have very detailed information on their comprehensive website. It is a beautiful place to get married, with many nice places nearby for bridal portraits, and fun shots with your entire bridal party. Thanks again to Fr. Peffley for giving me the opportunity!

Thanks to University of Pennsylvania Latin & Ballroom Dance for inviting me to photograph their upcoming event, the Clover Star Classic. We went to this event last year, and had a blast! The collegiate competition is amazing athletic. Combined with their creative choreography, the ballroom costumes really fly by as the shutter tries to keep up! This will be TimeLine Media’s first ballroom dance event of the year, and I’m excited about making more unique and memorable images for the dancers this year. I’ll post some of my favorites both on this blog, and on the newly created Fan page for TimeLine media which can be found at this Facebook link.

It was an amazing photography year for me on the dance floor! I was able to go to exotic places (Philadelphia) to familiar venues to capture the most dynamic, and best images so far. The last event of the year was the Arthur Murray Fall Showcase. For the last event, we got some great help from behind the camera, so we could actually step out on the floor ourselves. It was nerve-racking, and scary to get back out there, but we had a great time. Plus we had some great shots of us as a bonus! Thanks to everyone who helped us setup and photograph these events, and of course, thanks to everyone who has supported my little enterprise by purchasing pictures. I can’t wait to see everyone again in 2010!

These next few are NOT us, but I guess they dance pretty well

Sometime later:

This, however, was by special request by my cousin, Renato. He has always been a very gifted artist with the visual and performing arts since we were young. This would be the first time I would see him perform in his home place in front of his home crowd. It was also nice to visit Renato in Milwaukee, a city I’ve never visited in his recently acquired 100-year old house. Thanks for the accommodations!

I was honored that he asked me to document the happenings of the 8th Annual Umali Awards, at the Green Gallery East, as well as watch him perform with two bands at the Bremen Cafe. 

This was the first time I had really seen Renato stressed with all of the planning and logistics of getting something like this put together. I suppose I usually only seem him when he is on vacation, so his blood, sweat, and almost tears were seen until a needed video cable for the projector were found for the presentations.

Luckily, John was able to get the right connections, and the show went on without a hitch. The presentations, awards, and speeches – so creative and humorous! I hope I get the chance to go again!      

The next morning, Renato treated us all to a huge breakfast at the Comet Cafe. I was the least adventurous with my food and drink, but was quite satisfied with the meal.
